Architectural Design Studio 5
Critic: Brian DeLuna

A design for an abstract architectural folly. Designs were optimized to be cut out of foam using a robotic arm.
Precedent studies began with analyzing, drawing, and manipulating ornamentation from Gothic cathedrals. Several section drawings of the ornamentation were aggregated with one another and stacked to create large scale designs to work with. The final folly was created from the large scale design and an assembly of pieces used from the cutting process. Specifically my design tested the limits of the structural properties of the foam, creating a bulkier base to sit upon as well as a somewhat cantilevering assembly up top, while the center was much thinner.
The final project was a 6 ft. tall model and a video displaying the features of the model.

VIdeo filmed using a GoPro attached to a robotic arm. Edited together using Adobe AfterEffects and Premiere.
