Architectural Design Studio 2
Critic: Fleet Hower
A design for a house for what would seem like two vastly different people who would cohabitate in separate yet connected spaces, specifically an artist and a scientist.
he design began by studying portions of Takashi Murakami's painting "Tan Tan Bo Puking" (2002). The geometry and linework from these portions were manipulated and altered to created extruded forms that were then aggregated and subtracted from one another within a cube boundary. This created the initial precedent cube that was then cut, edited and altered through multiple iterations to create a one story home that would have the separate yet connected spaces to encourage a fusion between art and science and a realization that art + science creates something amazing.
Color for the final design was also inspired by the original painting studies.
